"Non-Toxic" by TELEKINESIS

Performed live in a quaint corner of Sursee, Switzerland:

If you are not aware, TELEKINESIS is the project of seattle native Michael Benjamin Lerner. His first album, called TELEKINESIS! is excellent. It can be bought on iTunes or via the Merge Records website.

The song from this video is available from his EP Parallel Seismic Conspiracies.

A new TELEKINESIS album entitled "12 Desperate Straight Lines" is due in February.

Lambs and Wolves aus Deutschland

I had the pleasure of filming a couple of songs with the talented guys from Lambs and Wolves as part of my ongoing Presented by Cafe Henrici series:

Summer Light

Memories of a Winter Day

Lambs and Wolves played a show at Cafe Henrici before we filmed these. Watch them perform The Only Light from the Cafe Henrici Youtube Channel

Rita Hey

Here are two more videos in the Presented by Cafe Henrici series, this time with the country/folk duo Rita Hey. We found a cozy alley in the Niederdorf and they played two songs:

Professional Lovers by Rita Hey

I Am Here To Stay by Rita Hey

Later that evening Rita Hey performed at Cafe Henrici. You can see them perform Heavy Metal Relationship on Youtube. I really enjoyed their performance, and their album We Know You Well, Sweet Misery is also very good.

Americana by way of Portugal with "A Jigsaw"

On September 28th the Portuguese Blues/Folk band A Jigsaw came through Zürich on their European tour. In addition to their gig at Cafe Henrici, I also filmed a couple of live videos with them. It is hard to describe just how great these guys are. Just have a watch:

Red Pony by A Jigsaw

Return to Me by A Jigsaw

I  must admit that A Jigsaw is one of my favorite acts that has played at Henrici so far. Their album "Like the Wolf" is also very good. You can buy it from their online store or on iTunes.

The Human Statues

A few weeks ago Jeff Bryant of the Canadian duo The Human Statues came through Zürich to play a gig at Cafe Henrici. The next day we got together and made a couple of videos in the Niederdorf. The first song was tricky for me because I was walking backwards:

The Man on the Radio by The Human Statues

The second song was tricky for Jeff because this time, he had to walk backwards. Playing guitar while walking backwards is probably harder than holding a camera.

Honest Man by The Human Statues

I Support the Tea Party

Gotcha! The tea party I am referring to is the Royal Tea Party, which was hosted a few weeks ago by Bellwether V here in Zürich. I was asked to make a document of the event:

Ad Hoc is a duo from Winterthur comprised of Andre Hochuli (Guitar, Vocals) and Linda Suter (Violin, Vocals). On Tuesday February 23 they performed the song Futile Crush which has become the third in the Niederdorf Music Video series I am creating for Cafe Henrici. The location was on Spiegelgasse right up the alley from the famous Cabaret Voltaire.

Jane Lui is a musician and good friend of mine. We met many years ago in the San Diego cafe music scene. Back in 2007 we happend to be in London at the same time. Unfortunately our schedules only intersected for two hours. What would be a better use of those two hours other than making a music video? Nothing.

Currently Jane is working on her third studio album and is raising money for it through Pledge Music. Check out some of her music on Youtube. If you are in to it, think about dropping her a donation.

Amir-John Haddad is a world famous flamenco guitar player who recently played a Moods here in Zürich. I met him through a mutual friend and filmed that show. On his way back to Madrid from Germany he stopped again in Zürich and played an impromptu show at Cafe Henrici which I filmed as well. Here is one piece from that show:

On Tuesday, January 12 Cafe Henrici hosted the 2nd Tuesday Night Throwdown -- also know as TNT. TNT is a cappuccino art competition where the barista's only tool is a pitcher of milk. All of the designs are made solely while pouring the milk. It's cool stuff. Here is a video I made for them:

Cafe Henrici is the best cafe in Zürich -- no contest. Karla and I discovered it several months ago and I have been hooked ever since. Not only is their coffee delicious and amazing, but the people who run it are super nice as well as passionate about coffee. They have recently began live music sessions in the evenings and when Will Sartain came to play on Dec 12, we made this video.

On September 10th was BasFolies, a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Mode Atelier Basman. The show consisted of a Fashion Show mixed with a Folies style Variety show. I was responsible for the video production in the show as well as filming during it. If you were not among the people fortunate enough to be there, here is a little taste of the BasFolies:

The show began with a video showing the space alien moderator flying his birthday cake-shaped space ship and crash landing it into the venue -- so that explains those clips, if you were wondering. All together it was a really fun show, that had a perfect balance of hand-craft and high fashion. Someone described it as Children's theater for adults. I can agree with that.

BasFolies was a GlamourGeek Production and directed by Eva De Vree.
